My lappy is dying - I've been working diligently to keep it alive for the last several days; sometimes it lives, sometimes. tis dead - I'm getting about 20 mins use at a time on average before it conks out, and I'm having to use that time to back everything up for when I replace it. Repairs are going to cost almost as much as buying a new one so, with regret, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a new one.

Only no one's making one as lovely as mine anymore. I love ma Toshiba; it's so wee and light, yet has a nice size screen, the touchpad area is nice and narrow, which suits someone with small hands like myself ... But even Toshiba aren't making this or anything like it anymore.

Sigh

At least they're cheaper - a better one than this model is less than half what I paid for this. But I mourn its imminent loss deeply ::sniff::

Obviously, this affects my browsing time and, more importantly, writing time - real life stuff and fic. For those of you on the Academy story com; I've been working on it, I was hoping to have the first chapter up today but...

Soon, I hope, and sorry for the delay. )o:

Aww! Sorry to hear about your laptop.

My pc is the old "tower" kind, it's over 10 years old and I have to restart every 45mins to get something done, as it keeps getting stuck.....probably needs to be retired. Hubby wants to get me a laptop but I'm not sure if I can adjust to that. I'm clumsy and need a 'big' keyboard....so if I do get one I'll still hook it up to the keyboard, monitor, etc.

Sounds like you need more ram, hon. But if you get the chance to switch to a laptop, do! I can't live without mine. The keyboards are fine - not too small and you can sit and be on LJ when you're watching TV or whatever. (o:

I hate hhaving to replace this - it's only 2 years old and I love it so, but being sensible, it looks like I'm going to have to. )o:

I did add more ram, and did plenty of upgrading over the years, but apparently the tech said something about the processor and motherboard being on their last legs, so I don't think it's worth upgrading any more. Hubby and the 2 eldest have laptops and are very comfortable with them, I guess I'll just have to get used to the more compact design.

And 2 years isn't long for your laptop :( .... Good luck with getting the new one!

Ah... a dying computer is a sad and terrible thing. )o: If the motherboard's going I guess there's not much to be done.

It's just a baby! ::wails:: - though it's old before its time, I've given it a pretty good hammering.

It's working fine at the moment though... ::shrugs::

Poor old lappy :~(

Still, bless it, it hasn't just died on you, and you've got time to rescue everything. Mine tend to just up and die with just a final parting snigger...

It's working fine just now... ::is in terrible quandry::

Oh, not a snigger. That's just wrong. )o:

It keeps rallying - it's working great at the moment, but death is clearly imminent.

So sad to say good by to such a friend! I understand I have a strong relationship with my computer and my scanner.
Btw I should like to thank you for the wonderful time I had reading Chasing rainbows, I'm so glad you are writing a sequel. I believe it will be among my favorites series.

You read Rainbows? Thanks so much for that! I'm glad you liked it. The sequel's coming along fast but it's going to be *so* long.

The laptop has had a revival, I'm tapping away on it now. I'm happier than I can say (though I know it's (never did decide if it was a he or a she, hence the 'it') going to die sooner rather than later), but plans to buy a new one have been put on hold for now.

Thanks so much for the kind thoughts. Computer's are friends aren't they? Mine gets yelled and screamed at more than a lover (and that's a lot) (o:

Well better to yell at the computer than at the lover, isn't it? Yet I sooth my poor scanner with my hand sometimes so it is courageous enough to keep on working for me.
